Thanks to our American Archives Month 2016 presenters!

American Archives Month 2016: 40 Years of Archives at EKU

We celebrated 40 years of Archives at EKU at our American Archives Month event on October 25. A brief history on the founding of the University Archives in 1976 and its merger with the Townsend Library in the 1990s to become "Special Collections and Archives" was followed by three presentations from EKU community members who have used our materials in their projects:

  • "The Kentucky River: Then and Now," by Clara Daniels, elemenatary school student.
  • "From Beattyville to Carrollton: Indexing the Kentucky River Project," by Crystal Allen-Daniels, EKU alumna.
  • "The Kentucky Riding Saddle: 'Patching Together' its Quilted History," by Dr. Stephanie McSpirit, EKU Anthropology, Sociology, & Social Work faculty.

Thanks so much to our fabulous presenters!
